I hope they turn out well, and be sure to leave me a link when you post photos on your blog.

It really was very naughty of people to call those machines portable. The handle was only designed to lift the cover from the machine, not carry the whole machine - the catch and locks where the cover fit into the base are not strong enough to take the weight of all that metal.

Love, MuvMuvhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00734374133479479218noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1895516057450453227.post-34696750644926131352014-05-07T10:15:32.699+01:002014-05-07T10:15:32.699+01:00Dear Muv,

I was making it for my grandmother's 99k electric Singer.

Now that I have TWO portables (the 99k electric, and 128k hand-cranker), I have decided to throw out the single, old crappy machine-cover, and make two new, better ones.

The one difference between yours and mine, will be that I will have a hole in the middle, for the folding handle to pop through. And a button-down flap to cover the space under the handle. That way, they can be protected, and portable! :) Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1895516057450453227.post-68820989635315840742013-10-02T20:00:26.349+01:002013-10-02T20:00:26.349+01:00I really need to make a cover for my machine. But I guess it's sentimental to him even if nobody there sews, so that's cool. Hopefully some day. . . ;DLynettehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10424861624240818479noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1895516057450453227.post-47759913336041647772013-09-29T17:22:01.652+01:002013-09-29T17:22:01.652+01:00Hello Linda,

My newest machine dates from 1949. I have never owned an electric machine, and apart from a few traumatic minutes at school in the 1960s, I have never used one.

Welcome to my time warp!

Love,
Muv Muvhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00734374133479479218noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1895516057450453227.post-53156571696362050632013-09-27T21:03:18.765+01:002013-09-27T21:03:18.765+01:00Free motion on a treadle?!
