Surprising what can be done with a straight stitch machine. I thought you might like to see my first ever zigzagging (excluding five traumatic minutes with an electric horror at school in the 1960s). It was done on the 15K treadle and looks rather like the printout from a seismograph.
This is not the beginning of a conversion. I shall always be strictly a straight stitch girl, but a bit of decorative stitching won't go amiss once in a while.
Expect some interesting pictures on Monday. In the meantime perhaps I shall manage to get a bit more practice.

Looks great. I particularly like the scallop stitch at the top of the picture. Did you have much bother balancing the tension? I am already looking forward to seeing more on Monday.

DeleteNo, I didn't touch the tension at all. Provided it is right for straight stitch this machine will do anything I want - zigzagging or free motion quilting - without any adjustments to the tension.

Very interesting. I've often wondered what the stitches of a zigzagging attachment would look like. Can you tell me what attachment you used? I adore my treadles, I hate having to resort to my electric to work on knits, and have been considering buying a ZZ attachment. Any information you can give me will be greatly appreciated. (My treadles are both Singers a 15 and a 66-1.)
