Free Motion Quilted Bedspread - Getting There...
Not a brilliant picture, I know. I slung the quilt over our bed and had to stand on the edge of the bed and hold the camera up to the ceiling and aim.
Anyway, this is the progress so far. Twelve blocks are now all joined up, and it's not quite big enough, so I am going to have to quilt a few more pieces and add a wide border all round. I could be lazy and just bind it now, but there's nothing worse than a bed cover that lets in the draught at the sides.
Here's the back. Definitely not the pretty side, but the quilting shows up better. Not perfect quilting, but my daughter is the last person to care and she's looking forward to it.
Linking up again today with Leah Day's Free motion Quilting blog. I hope you enjoy visiting the other blogs to see what people are up to!
I think you did a great job! What machine are you quilting it on? A treadle or electric?
ReplyDeleteHello Missy Shay,
DeleteI'm doing the quilting on the 15K treadle. I haven't got any electric machines.
Love,
Muv
This is coming along beautifully. I actually love both sides. The front has a comfy, cozy, traditional feel to it. The back looks has a more modern, artsy feel to it. I'm sure your daughter is going to love it. *applause, applause*
ReplyDeleteYour quilt and quilting look great. Call me crazy, but I love the backs of most quilts, expecially if they have many pieces. It just seems to have a more relaxed and fun feeling when those bigger pieces come together. I’m sure your daughter will be thrilled with the finished product.
ReplyDeleteNicely done! I like the look of your quilt-as-you-go blocks with the free motion quilting.
ReplyDeleteOh wow! Great quilting!! I agree with you on add more to make it just the right size! I hate lap quilts. They are just not big enough unless for a child.
ReplyDeleteOh I think the back is lovely! No, it isn't the "show side", but it almost always the side that highlights the love and time that went into the quilt. Nice work here!
ReplyDeleteI've added you to my blogroll to see what you come up with next - fell free to show me some love! www.theboredzombie.com
wow! it's gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteI have to confess I rather like a lap quilt; it is so cosy to be tucked up under a quilt on the sofa, with a cup of tea and a toasted crumpet. I do agree, however, that for a bed it needs to be big enough to avoid draughts.
