It's a Tea Time Give Away!
If you saw the post last week showing a free motion quilting practice piece, this little tea cosy will look familiar. The sewing project I had in mind all went to plan, and I am pleased to be joining in the Quilting Gallery Quilters' Blog Hop Party by giving away this tea cosy, made entirely on two of my favourite machines. All the free motion quilting was done on the 1945 Singer 15K treadle, and all the rest of the stitching, including the straight line quilting, was done on the 1949 Singer 15K hand machine.
The cosy fits a small teapot. The photos show a one pint teapot.
Here it is with a large mug, strictly for serious tea drinkers, as it holds three quarters of a pint.
More genteel tea drinkers will prefer a cup and saucer. In this photo the teapot is out of sight hiding under the tea cosy.
So, if you love tea and would like the chance to win this little cosy to brighten up your tea time, all you have to do is leave a comment before midnight GMT Tuesday 26th November. The winner's name will be announced on Wednesday 27th. I will post to anywhere in the world...!
If English isn't your first language, feel free to leave your comment in your own language. Let's make this truly an international tea party!
When you leave your comment, tell me how you like your tea, how many gallons a day, with biscuits or sandwiches... or, if you don't like tea, who you would give this tea cosy to as a present.
And there is a bonus...
... if you are already a follower of this blog, or if you join as a follower before leaving your comment, you qualify for an extra little present. Although I recognise many followers' names straight away, just help me out please by mentioning that you are a follower.
These three scraps and two strips of bonus triangles will be yours to use in any project you want. So if you think the tea cosy needs a matching table mat, you have a head start.
Because this blog hop is called Giving Thanks something tells me it might have something to do with Thanksgiving. Well, even though we don't have Thanksgiving here, it doesn't mean we don't say thank you, so here goes...
A big thank you everyone who visits, follows, and comments on this blog. I am truly grateful to you all!
And another big thank you to Michele for hosting this blog hop. I will have to hop around and enter a give away myself!
To give you even more blogs to visit, this post is being linked with:-
Kelly's blog My Quilt Infatuation for Needle and Thread Thursday
Sarah's blog Confessions of a Fabric Addict for Whoop Whoop Friday
Leah Day's blog for Free Motion Friday

Hello! I am a fairly new follower, after having just recently become the proud owner of a 201k3 - she is a beauty! Your blog came up in a general search for 201s, and I'm really enjoying it. Our teapot has a few 'hats' and I'd love to add your wonderfully treadled 'hat' to our collection. Our knitted Christmas pudding tea cosy will go on on 1st Dec! We like tea any time, alot of the time, on a tray with sugar and biscuits. Thanks for this lovely giveaway.

ReplyDeleteI've been thinking of swtiching from coffe to tea. This would be fun and make me want to buy a new teapot!
ReplyDeleteCan't get my comment posted to save me! I hope they didn't come through, but I tried 6 times and they never showed up. So here's my last shot: Muv, I love tea and tea cosies. I've been meaning to make one, but there's no way I could top this beautiful one you just made! It's great that you work on the old Singer machines. Don't they just stitch wonderfully? My favorite teas are chai spice and lemon jasmine ginger. I also collect single cup and saucer 'sets' --meaning I have about 10 different teacups with their matching saucers, so I use whichever one strikes my fancy at the time.
ReplyDeleteLinda
I own a teapot EXACTLY like yours, so I know your beautiful cozy would be a perfect fit :-) I usually start my day with coffee and end it, sipping tea in the deb while I watch TV and stitch or knit.
ReplyDeleteI love your tea cozy. Thanks for sharing your site
ReplyDeleteI enjoy iced tea in the summertime but otherwise prefer coffee. My sister however is an avid tea drinker so if I win that lovely cozy, I will give it to her to enjoy.
ReplyDeleteI am a new follower via GFC and I LOVE tea....I prefer Cold Iced Tea with Lemon or Lime but now is the season for hot tea...with just a bit of sugar. I drink tea by the gallons!
ReplyDeleteI love hot Irish Breakfast tea with sugar substitute and Bailey's Irish creamer. I usually drink 2 - 3 cups a day. Would love to win your tea cozy! Thanks for the chance!
ReplyDeleteI like your little cozy. I'm not a follower per se, but check out your work every Friday via thefreemotionquiltingproject link up. I'm amazed at your treadle freemotion work.
ReplyDeleteI haven't linked up in awhile due to surgery to my right hand but I follow everyone's progress each week.
Thanks for your inspiring blog. I am new to blogging (and a new follower) you can find me at lizisquilting.tumblr.com .. I drink dandelion from a teapot, and you little half square triangles would go lovely with the collection growing in my sewing room ready for a new project
ReplyDeleteI drink coffee and plain green tea. If I won I would give the cozy to a very close friend that collects tea pots and loves English teas. I know she would be thrilled!
ReplyDeleteI love my tea hot with honey, please---and I would love some little sandwiches first, if you don't mind, and THEN a sweet biscuit will finish it up nicely. :) I have been a follower of yours on Bloglovin before this hop, and now I also am following on Google Friends. :)
ReplyDeleteI am seriously impressed by that tea cozy being made with a treadle---truly awesome. :)
I recently discovered a company named "David's Tea" and they have some really unusual teas. My current fave is called Read My Lips. It is Black tea with vanilla, mint, chocolate, perppercorns and little red candy lips. I wish I could make my whole house smell like this tea. Thanks for giving me a reason to share this fun discovery!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win.
We love to have a cup of tea after dinner. We have a lovely tea shop in our town called "Everything Tea." She has so many wonderful, different blends available to purchase by the ounce.
ReplyDeleteThat is really an adorable tea cosy! I am a coffee drinker, but my mother-in-law is a tea drinker. The green that you used for the cosy is one of her favorite colors. So, if I should win she will be getting the cosy! Thanks for the chance! Oh yeah, she likes Earl Grey Tea.
ReplyDeleteI am a new follower via GFC!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy tea a lot but have never made a cozy. Yours is very cute. I am a new follower.

:) Kelly @ My Quilt Infatuation
Your tea cozy is beautiful and I'd love to win it! I even have the perfect wee teapot to wear it. Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteI'm a new follower via Bloglovin.
ReplyDeleteLovely cozy! I drink tea only (no coffee). I like jasmine green tea in the morning, or sometimes a chai lattea (made with a teabag, soy milk and no foam). I drink other teas too - Earl Grey, herbals - although I am not fussy about fruit teas, and even plain old black tea sometimes.
ReplyDeleteI have 2 sizes of Bodum tea pots, will surely fit one. I have coffee in the morning and switch to tea after 3 cups, another switch to herbals after dinner. I guess there is a mug of something at hand all day long.
ReplyDeleteTea with scones, cream and jam! MMMMMMMMMMM! Green tea is my favorite. Thanks for the chance to win rosesabey@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI drink lots of coffee, but love Peppermint tea in the afternoon. Thank you for participating in this giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI drink a lot of decaf black tea, but lately I am learning to enjoy roiboos with a bit of honey. I will pretty well drink anything called team My all time favourite is Twinnings Earl Grey just as it comes from the pot. If I were to win, I would give the cosy to my mother who has a pot just that size.
ReplyDeleteI am now a follower of your blog
ReplyDeleteI am a tea drinker, and have many cute teapots the cozy would fit.. and you should see the mug my kids got me, it is huge...
ReplyDeleteI drink 4 cups of tea before lunch, 2 or 3 in the afternoon and several after dinner. But I drink weak tea and only use 3 tea bags a day. I drink most of it black, but once in a while I add stevia and milk. I carry tea bags in my purse. My family thinks I am tea-crazy!
ReplyDeleteI drink mostly herbal tea in the evenings. Although, when I had the opportunity to live in London when I was at college (in the US) I did learn the value of a good cuppa. Fortunately, I can get PG tips here in San Francisco :-)

ReplyDeleteI would love to win your prize. I'm drinking a cup or two of tea in the evenings - now and then together with a biscuit.
ReplyDeleteI love tea but I would give this cozy to my aunt who got me into sewing and has brought such joy to my life. We are both big tea drinkers but we seem to have less time now to share a cup. And we drink it with anything, biscuits, sandwiches or in bed before getting up in the morning!!
ReplyDeleteI've just been looking around for patterns to make a tea cozy, but knew I'd have to wait until after Christmas, as my to-do list is already bigger than the time that's left!!
ReplyDeleteI love tea, and drink about 2 cups a day, usually herbal (my favourite is Formosa Oolong). If I have tea biscuits or Digestives, that's my fave to have with the tea.
I'm a new follower.
Thanks for the wonderful giveaway! The tea cozy is lovely!!

ReplyDeleteI like tea with cookies. I am more like a coffee person, but in the cold winter there is nothing like tea! Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteAnd I am a new GFC follower. Thanks again

ReplyDeleteI do enjoy a cup of tea in the evenings before retiring to bed, my flavor varies but is something without caffine. Awesome blog posts about Hand and Treadle machines.

Your freemotion work on the treadle is fantastic! I have become a follower. Thanks for counting me in.
ReplyDeleteIch fang auf Deutsch an und mach mit Egnlish weiter - sonst wird es vielleicht langweilig für dich...
ReplyDeleteSo the tea - I have some green tea, but that's more my summer tea and for guests, I usually have an Earl grey after lunch in a half liter mugand as it's cold in winter there will usually follow another tea around 3 or 4 .. that's usually, in summer I have a tea that has some fruit stuff in it too for iced tea 8I usually add soem apple juice or grape juice for some sweetness)
And then we have the "fruit and herb teas" the ones that don't contain tea (sounds a bit stupid) well I have a big one in the evening for dinner, depending on the mood.
I have a "tea set" for my "black tea" and one for all the others ...
I often use a "tea sock" it's a little fabric bag that holds the loose tea (yeah I don't use any tea bags - if have them all in their tins) .. I do have some Breakfast tea from my last trip to England ... which I sometimes drink instead of my coffee in the morning, or for a little in between tea sort of a second breakfast .. ohhh and it's the only tea that stays good in a thermos bottle all day if you add a little milk ..
i'm all for big mugs - I do not se the use for small ones - just means I have to constantly refill my mug and it cools out so much faster and means more trips to the kitchen --- and nwo I will stop my short novel ..
Tea is great - tea cosies are greater - and I still like my coffee!
I love hot tea especially green tea :)
ReplyDeleteI only drink herbal teas, generally without anything added, or occasionally a bit of honey.
ReplyDeleteI drink three pots of tea a day, with milk and sugar! And I signed up to follow on GFC
ReplyDeleteI'm from Florida originally, and still like my tea iced. When I lived in Canada I fit in by drinking it hot and then liked it strong with sugar and milk. Nowadays, I brew flavored tea bags to make the iced tea, love constant comment for iced tea.

I love tea, but it doesn't like me - actually I get kidney stones so I can only have a weak cup once a week. Love to have it with homemade scones, cream and jam. Would love to win the tea cozy! Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteGreat prize. Thanks so much for sharing. I love tea in all shapes and forms...
ReplyDeleteI love a cup of tea! What a beautuful give away!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing.
FMQ on a Treadle!?! Wow! I am completely impressed.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm a tea girl, yes indeed......if I had that cozy, I'd give it to my best tea friend, Shari. We both love England and tea and scones and all that. Thank you for such a nice offer. Come over and visit us at Prairie Cottage Corner. I have a recipe for scones and one for a Tension Tamer Tea on my blog. We can have a warm cup of something and a good, long chat.
ReplyDeleteMemories of home as my Mother is from England we always had tea & the pot had a cozy. I have joined as a follower with email. Just learning Blogs. Thank you for a chance to win. HAPPY QUILTING:)
ReplyDeleteI discovered your fabulous U-Tube videos years ago and then I found this wonderful blog. Not wanting to be perceived as a blog voyeur, I just joined as a follower.
ReplyDeleteThe Pacific Northwest has weather like in Great Britain, so it is not surprising that my afternoon pickup is a warm cup of black Irish tea with milk. The tea is made all the tastier as it is steeped and served in a pot and cups found in Goodwill shops where I also find an occasional old sewing machine.
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day.
What beautiful tea cozies! New gfc follower: nicolesender.
ReplyDeleteI am a new email follower. sewingblogsarefun@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI love my tea with cream and sugar if hot, or just with lemon if iced. I have to say that I drink way too much tea - but I love it.
