Free Motion Mavericks - Week 210 - Sandwiches and Spam

Making sandwiches again... but definitely not with spam.  I have made two this week, to add to my pile of cradle quilts to be quilted.  I rather like this one, with lots of pinks and florals, with a definite emphasis on roses.  The colours look a bit sludgy in the photo because it was taken in electric light.  Today is particularly dull and rainy, and now that it is going dark by 4.30 the urge to hibernate is getting stronger by the day.  Although I am not feeling particularly creative on the quilting front at the moment, I have plenty to look forward to, with a trip to the annual 12 x 12 exhibition at Midsomer Quilting tomorrow.  It promises to be interesting!

As for spam, am I the only one feeling inundated by spam comments at the moment?  I have got into the habit of not looking at my comments box for days at a time because I know I will see the same old rubbish time and time again.  I cleared out 22 spam comments today, most of which were in execrable English, but there was a fair smattering of offerings in Portuguese from Brazil.   It is so tedious.

Enough moaning.  It's linky time.

Here goes for week 208:-

Many thanks again to Andrée for linking up last time with her T shirt quilt.  If you haven't seen her blog post yet, nip over now and see more.

If you have no free motion quilting to show, feel free to link up and show any project you like.  Here are the usual rules, but feel free to ignore them.  To keep the original emphasis, however, preference will be given to free motion quilting when featuring projects from the previous week.

If you love free motion quilting, whether you are a beginner just taking the plunge, or you have reached the stage where you can do ostrich feathers with your eyes shut and still achieve perfect symmetry, then please link up.

Remember, FMQ is FMQ, whether your machine was made last week, or it is older than your granny.

Here are the very easy and slightly elastic rules:-

1.  Link up with any recent post, ideally from the last week but within the last month, which features a free motion quilting project, whether it is a work in progress or a finish.

2.  Link back to this post in your own post.

3.  Visit as many of the other participants as possible and say hello in the comments box.

4.  The link up will remain open for four days, from midnight to midnight GMT for the long weekend, Friday to Monday.

So far quilters from the USA, England, Wales, Australia, Canada, Germany, Holland, New Zealand, France, Macau, Russia, Ireland and Brazil have taken part.  The first participant from each new country will get a special mention the following week.

  1. I rarely get SPAM comments, but then I don't get many comments usually.
Dark at 4:30pm? - you must be across the pond.

  2. Hi Muv.
Not quite done with my little table runner, but will take pics when I have. Nothing interesting, just walking foot.

Pretty little quilt - love rosebuds.

As for spam, I don't have a blog, but those I follow seem to have the same copy and pasted comments from a person with a foreign name - the same name even. Others just have squiggly writing that I have no idea, but obviously east across a continent or two. Must be dreadful to be on the receiving end. Luckily most rubbish is intercepted on my email. Best to block and delete if you can.

    1. Hello Kerry,

Looking forward to seeing your pics!

The trouble with blogger is you can't block, only delete. That is why I moderate all comment, so only real people appear on the blog.

  3. Yayyy I'm real! LOL! Still have things in boxes, my sewing bedroom is quite cramped for space (in other words messy!) but it's been wonderful to start sewing again, however small! Also rediscovered a cross stitch pattern with birdies and been playing with that in the evenings which is a nice change.
Darned nuisance about not being able to block the nasties though.

  4. I received 16 Arabic spam comments in 11 minutes, so I had to add Captcha to my comments. No fun. It gets dark about 4:30pm here, too (Illinois, USA). Makes me want to go to sleep when it gets dark.
