My husband disappears for hours on end to his shed whenever he gets the chance. He presented this chest of drawers to me the other day. We have had it for years. A side panel was split, the drawers kept getting stuck...
After spending rather a long time in the shed, it is now back in the house, having been completely transformed. He has cut it in width, glued the split in the side panel, rebuilt the framework and drawers using recycled wood where necessary, and given it a good coating of Danish oil to enhance the natural colour of the wood. The warped front panels of the drawers are still misshapen...
... and it has smart new handles.
It is now filled with lengths of cotton, fat quarters and scraps. It didn't take me long to fill the drawers to bursting.

Wow I love the refurbished chest of drawers. What a great job your husband did. Just perfect for fabric storage
ReplyDeleteLovely, isn't it, Barbara. He's a clever chap.
DeleteIt's beautiful! What a lovely gift he fixed up for you.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, this is beautiful. All old furniture should be given new life, unless it's truly ready for the junk pile. Great job!!
