It's a wonderful painting. It was on a Christmas stamp a few years ago. I used to walk past Wolverhampton Art Gallery on the way to school when I was young and I have only just found out that this painting is in their collection. What a dope.
Thank you for your marvellous blog and Happy New Year. I am struggling with FMQ on my Singer 15K with RAF decals. It won't pick up the bobbin thread. I am an experienced treadler and can FMQ with my 201K. I want to set my 15 K up for FMQ and to piece on my 201. Please could you let me know what needle you use and any other tips to help me with my skipping stitches. Many thanks Lucy from Oxford.
For standard quilting I use an size 80 needle and Gutermann's Sulky Cotton 30. For free motion landscapes, because I quilt on stiffer material (thermal curtain lining instead of backing and wadding) and the stitching is more tightly packed, I use a titanium topstitch needle in a size 100.
Skipped stitches can be something as simple as a blunt needle, or perhaps a mismatch between thread thickness and needle size. I swear by the thread I use. Other threads I have tried have been temperamental on my machine.
Good luck with your 15K, and a Happy New Year to you!
How beautiful!
