I like it! I like seeing the newness of spring. And I'm glad to see those furrows aren't perfectly straight. They make me feel better about the quilting I've been doing this week.
I'm hoping to get a decent picture of the adjacent field, where the rows criss cross each other, but the weather has been against me. That field really does look like quilting.
To me this isn't a boring photo. I'm not sure what the picture is, possibly rows of wheat sown last fall in a soybean field. To a farmer, this is a beautiful picture, the coming of spring.
You are right Gretchen, it is an autumn sowing. Last year the crop was wheat, so it could be another grain this year. Soya beans are not commonly grown in this country - I have never seen them. For me the fascination lies in the man-made lines in the landscape. The hedge has had a fairly brutal haircut.
I know it's Lent, but am I allowed to moan about the fact that we have had three months of boring grey skyed dampness, and last week I jumped at the chance of putting clothes to dry outside for the first time since October?
