Yet another quilt top in the making, number six in the batch. I think the fabric in the centre is a little distorted, and if so it must have happened when I gave it a wash before using it. Everything is going uphill to the left, which I rather like. It adds a little more life to the scene. I enjoyed keeping to the red, white, blue and black colour scheme, the only variation being the rogue pink spots in the black and white spotty fabrics. When I started I thought the blue with red spots on the right would be the best for the border. This afternoon, in good daylight, the fabric on the left looks far better. There is just about enough of it left to finish the job.Meanwhile, the weather is still dry, far too dry for the time of year, so I have been concentrating on the outdoor jobs. The potatoes are just beginning to peep up, and all the seeds I have planted can stay unwatered - I don't want them popping up in a hurry and getting killed off by frost in May.
If I suddenly start quilting next month, it means it's raining! The weather forecast for the next week is more of the same. We seem to have lost our prevailing westerlies, bringing the rain from the Atlantic, and have had weeks of winds from the East. It doesn't bode well. It will probably pour down all summer to make up for lost time.
On that cheerful note, it's time for this week's linky!
Here goes for Week 327:-
Many thanks to Vivian for linking up last time with her journal covers. If you haven't seen her blog post yet, nip over now and see more.
If you have no free motion quilting to show, feel free to link up and show any project you like. Here are the usual rules, but feel free to ignore them. To keep the original emphasis, however, preference will be given to free motion quilting when featuring projects from the previous week.
If you love free motion quilting, whether you are a beginner just taking the plunge, or you have reached the stage where you can do ostrich feathers with your eyes shut and still achieve perfect symmetry, then please link up.
Remember, FMQ is FMQ, whether your machine was made last week, or it is older than your granny.
Here are the very easy and slightly elastic rules:-
1. Link up with any recent post, ideally from the last week but within the last month, which features a free motion quilting project, whether it is a work in progress or a finish.
2. Link back to this post in your own post.
3. Visit as many of the other participants as possible and say hello in the comments box.
4. The link up will remain open for five days, from midnight to midnight GMT for the long weekend, Friday to Tuesday.
So far quilters from the USA, England, Wales, Australia, Canada, Germany, Holland, New Zealand, France, Macau, Russia, Ireland, Brazil and Sweden have taken part. The
first participant from each new country will get a special mention the following week.
Hi Muv, I love your London fabric. I agree that the fabric on the left looks best. I hope that you eventually get rain for both your plants and your quilting :-), but not too much of course! Take care.
ReplyDeleteHello Andrée,
DeleteThe rain finally arrived yesterday, with strong winds! It never rains but it pours.
The London Buses cover is finished, and it is one of my husband's all time favourites. I'm not making one in his size.
I think I will quilt it first.
