I don't know why I haven't got round to trying this yet. My husband has a shed full of wood offcuts. We could collaborate on a wooden quilt. I could do the thread work, and he could do all the necessary sanding and planing and the hinges.
Well if the book says you can do it...but it sounds totally mad to me!
